Confessions of a Single Girl in San Francisco… Life as it is. Not a Fairytale.

    Who is SFSingleGirl?

I am a woman in my 30s (but forever a girl at heart!) navigating the beautiful and beloved streets of San Francisco on a daily basis, often solo but never alone.  I have lived in many cities in the U.S., and much like the childrens’ story, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, I have tried a number of beds… um, careers. I am currently moonlighting in my third career and I’m delighted to say that I believe I’ve finally found “the one.”

Nonetheless, all work and no play makes Jane a dull girl, so I launched this blog as a creative outlet, a tribute, and a source of reflection and encouragement to single women (and men!) the world over. The single life can be fantastic. Really, really fantastic. It can also suck. No point in sugarcoating it or finding a nicer, more refined way of saying it. You know it, and I know it. This will be an honest and uncensored look at that life. Life as it is. Not a fairytale.

I am embarking on a quest and I hope that I will not journey alone. I will share my stories, my thoughts, and my fears with you in the hopes that you will join me and be honest about your own experiences in the trenches. Even if you’ve crossed over to the other side, and can now be classified as a “smug married,” I’d still like to hear from you. After all, you may be single again someday…

Much like the fellowship of the ring in J.R.R. Tolkien’s magnificent books (yes, they were traveling to Mount Doom, sometimes translated as the “Mountain of Fate”), I would like to form a band of stalwart, defiant and brave travelers, united together for a single and singular purpose. I intend to post every Sunday, in the hopes that maybe I can do my part to stave off, or at least distract from the “is the weekend really over and do I really have to go to work tomorrow blues.” Please subscribe or check back in regularly and post comments!

Let us commence our search for truth. I hope that you will join me on this adventure. Adventures, much like good stories, or nice, stiff drinks, are fun, a little bit dangerous, and always served with a twist.
